Matt’s advice for people pursuing acting careers

In an interview with Medium, Matt revealed five tips he has for aspiring entertainers.

  • “You need to be your own best champion,” he told Medium.
  • “Keep fighting.”
  • “Find friends.”
  • “Be nice.”
  • “Life is short, do what makes you happy.”

Matt Iseman’s career in medicine

The American Ninja Warrior co-host graduated from Princeton University at the top of his class.

He then went to medical school at Columbia University.

Iseman did stand-up comedy for the first time when he was in med school.

He decided to take a year off from his residency to try his hand at comedy in Los Angeles.

During his year there, he fell in love with performing and decide to purse entertainment instead of medicine.

NFL players want in

Co-host and former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila says professional football players often reach out to him wanting to get on the show.

“I get guys like NFL star quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers, telling me, ‘I love this show,’” he told Mental Floss.

“I get guys like Charles Woodson texting me, like, ‘Man, this is amazing.’ Other guys texting me or tweeting me, saying, ‘Look, give me your number. I want to get on this obstacle course because I think I could do it.’”

Contestant reveals show secret

While most viewers would expect the ninjas to be stretching and performing pushups in the show’s warm-up tent, Zack Eichenstein revealed what actually goes on.

“If you were to go to the warm-up tent about halfway through one of the filming nights, half the people are on blow-up mattresses, just sleeping,” he revealed.

The ninjas are “trying to just get any sleep because it’s 2am,” he said.

Eichenstein said that he brought his own blow-up mattress and slept before it was his turn to run the course.

“While I did want to stay up and watch all my friends, at the same time I knew that I would be super tight and stressful the whole time.

“You just kind of force yourself to just relax,” he said.

Former contestant opens training gym

After his time on American Ninja Warrior 13 and 14, former contestant Zack Eichenstein built Ferox Athletics – a 40,000-square-foot facility that opened its doors in Brooklyn, New York in 2022.

Ferox, which is the East Coast’s largest professional ninja park, features many obstacles and elements similar to those seen on the TV show.

Former contestant reveals show requires training

American Ninja Warrior 13 and 14 contestant Zack Eichenstein spoke exclusively with The U.S. Sun about his time on the show.

Known for its intensely difficult obstacle courses and high-caliber competition, the show has inspired athletes around the world – as well as the facilities in which they train.

Eichenstein revealed that American Ninja Warrior is different than many believe.

“A lot of people think it’s almost like a game show where you can kind of just randomly go on and actually win a million dollars,” he shared.

“But it actually requires a lot of training and a lot of work.”
