A COSTCO store is set to honor a nearby national sporting institution with its new storefront design.

The new store that's due to open next year is situated in Daytona Beach, Florida, just across from the Daytona International Speedway.

The race track plays host to the annual Nascar Daytona 500 and has been thrilling drivers and fans since 1959.

Starting next year, visitors to the Speedway will be able to pick up all of their essentials from the new Costco store.

The storefront will honor its racing neighbor with a unique checkered flag pattern, according to local Fox affiliate WOFL.

The 150,000-square-foot store is being developed by One Daytona and will be the first Costco in Daytona Beach and Volusia County.

"Costco is a top international retailer that will significantly round out the retail mix, and because we currently do not have a concept like this on site, it will greatly enhance the everyday experience for those who live, visit and play at ONE DAYTONA," President Roxanne Ribakoff said in a press release.

The store, which will be situated at the ONE DAYTONA campus was announced in May 2022.

Other stores at the campus include Bass Pro Shops, 4 Rivers Smokehouse, and Plato's Closet.

Speaking to WOFL, the developers confirmed that the exact opening date will be released when construction is closer to completion.

Locals are already excited about the opening with one posting on X, formerly Twitter: "Can't wait until our Costco in Daytona Beach opens!"

"So excited to have a Costco closer," others said on Facebook.

"I like this in Daytona," one said.

"1/2 hr closer than Altamonte Springs. On the other hand, do I really need to go to COSTCO more often?"

Several residents were shocked at the speed at which the highly-anticipated store is being built.

Opinions about the new storefront design will have to wait until the developers are further into construction.
